2013 Favourite Images
- Here is a small collection of my favourite images taken per month throughout 2013. This year included two trips to Scotland, the launch of Skyfall and SkyHD 225 sets, the return of D1015 Western Champion (including on hire to GBRf), continued reinstatement of Colas '56s' and DB Schenker '60s' and the usual collection of railtours and wacky workings.
DRS 37218 leads 37603 on the 1Q19 Plymouth to London Paddington test train at Sheldon bridge, Teignmouth on the 20th December 2013.
DRS 37604 leads the 6Z00 Derby RTC to Slateford snow train at Willington on the Uttoxeter line on the 21st November 2013.
East Coast's recent advertising livery has fallen on 91125, which is now sporting Sky 1 HD colours. On the second day of running in service since re-entering traffic in its new livery, the Class 91 flies through Hougham north of Grantham with the 1D16 13:35 London Kings Cross to Leeds on the 30th October 2013. The promotional train was being followed by a helicopter and is the subject of a new TV series called 'All Abroad: East Coast Trains' which starts this following week.
D1015 'Western Champion' hauls the 1Z52 05:53 Leicester to Weymouth 'Wessexman Western' Pathfinder railtour at Damery on the 7th September 2013.
DRS 37423 'Spirit of the Lakes' leads 37605 works the 1Z41 Norwich to Great Yarmouth via Reedham junction 'Retro Railtours' at Cantley on the 31st August 2013.
An Arriva Trains Wales class 175 passes Llanfihangel with the 2C85 Manchester Piccadilly to Tenby on the 24th July 2013.
DB Schenker's 60039 works the 6M23 Doncaster to Mountsorrel consisting of 15 autoballasters thru East Midlands Parkway adjacent to Ratcliffe power station on the 4th June 2013. Many thanks to Phil Grain for his info on this working.
Network Rail's 97304 leads 97303 on the 1Z30 Bristol Temple Meads to Pwllheli (growlers on from Bescot) at Glan Hafren on the 31st May 2013.
Colas Rail 56105 leads the 6Z53 Teigngrace to Chirk loaded timber over St Julians bridge at Caerleon on the 11th April 2013.
East Coast 43302 leads Ex-National Express liveried 43320 on the 1E17 09:40 Inverness to London Kings Cross at Druimuachdar on the 31st March 2013.
Colas Rail 56094 rounds the curve at Grayrigg near Docker whilst powering the mighty 6J37 12:40 Carlisle Yard to Chirk loaded timber wagons on the 2nd February 2013. The Grid had been held in Eden Valley and Shap loops which gave the opportunity for a second shot.
