On the 28th March 2012, Colas Rail 66745 powers the 6Z51 Teigngrace to Chirk loaded logs at Caerleon.
47786 and 57601 work Heart of Wales charter
On the 28th March 2012, WCRC 47786 leads 57601 at Caerleon whilst powering the 1Z39 Cardiff Central to Huddersfield Statesman railtour. The pair had previously worked the 1Z38 to Cardiff Central via the scenic Central Wales line.
Dominant 67002 continues on the WAG Express
On the 28th March 2012, Arriva Train Wales 67002 speeds through Llanfrechfa with a delayed 1W91 Cardiff Central to Holyhead WAG Express.
60074 is substituted by 60079 on the South Wales murcos
The Wednesdays-only 6B25 Westerleigh to Robeston empty murco bogie tanks was left in the hands of recently arrived in South Wales, DB Schenker 60079 which was sent as a straight-replacement for 60074 which required an exam whilst 60007 continued inevitably on the 6B13/6B47 diagram. On the 28th March 2012, 60079 rounds the curve at Thornwell running 25minutes late with the 6B25 in tow.
DB Schenker '67s' replace Virgin '57s' on the WAG...
57316 was the last class '57' locomotive to work the 1W91 Cardiff Central to Holyhead on the 23rd March 2012 and the 1V31 Holyhead to Cardiff Central on the 26th March 2012. The 'WAG' Express diagram has now swapped traction from Class '57s' to Class '67s' and DB Schenker's Arriva Blue liveried 67002 became the first skip to work the 1W91 on the 26th March 2012 and the first '67' to work the 1V31 on the 27th March 2012. On the 27th March 2012, 67002 hauls the slightly late 1W91 Cardiff Central to Holyhead 'WAG' express at Ponthir. For more photographs and timings of the WAG Express please click here.
60074 leaves Wales for an exam after working 6B33
On the 27th March 2012, 60074 worked the 6B33 Theale to Robeston empty murco bogie tanks and is photographed at Newport.

Sky Blue Tug works steel coil train to Corby...
After working the overnight 6M94 Margam to Corby steel coils, DB Schenker's Cancer Trust liveried 60074 'Teenage Spirit' returned on the 19th March 2012 powering the 6V92 Corby to Margam empty steel coils. Running about 10minutes early, the Sky blue tug rounds the curve at Thornwell.
56302 works scrap to Tidal and DRS '37s' work 1Q13
ALSO: A visit to Andrew Goodmans Yard, Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield. On the 17th March 2012, I photographed DRS 37229 top-and-tailed with 37409 on the 1Q13 Derby RTC to Hither Green at Lea Marston. I also photographed 60011 powering the 6E41 Westerleigh to Lindsey tanks which crossed the tractors at the location. I then decided to visit Andrew Goodmans yard, Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield and with permission, managed to photograph GWR Green 47484 under-restoration. I also photographed EWS liveried 09015, Mainline Blue liveried 09024 and Dutch liveried 31144. I then focused on capturing the Fastline Grid working loaded scrap to Cardiff Tidal. Due to the train being held and looped several times for other passenger services, I managed to photograph56302 powering the mighty 6Z70 Shipley to Cardiff Tidal loaded scrap at Barrow upon Trent, Willington, Wychnor and Water Orton.
Class '57s' continue on the WAG until the end of March
The Virgin Class '57s' are set to be replaced on the WAG express by DB Schenker Class '67s' at the end of the month. Arriva Trains Wales plain blue liveried 57316 heads north with the late afternoon 1W91 16:15 Cardiff Central to Holyhead WAG express at Llanellen near Abergavenny on the 14th March 2012.

DB Schenker's 60063 returns to traffic
Quickly into the action, DB Schenker's newly reinstated and repainted Class 60, 60063 was sent to South Wales as a straight replacement for 60045 on Friday 9th March working the 6V19 Immingham to Margam steel. The tug was immediately sent into action on Saturday 10th March 2012, working the delayed 6H25 Margam to Llanwern loaded steel and return 6H26 empty steel to Margam. The loco in ex-works condition, trundles pass 66100 in Newpor A.D.j on the down relief working the slightly late 6H26 13:30 Llanwern to Margam empty steel. 60074 would be D.I.T behind 66188 on the 6H29 Margam to Llanwern.

Arriva Trains Wales '57s' take Rugby supporters to Cardiff
Due to the extra required passenger capacity due to the Wales and Italy match in Cardiff, Arriva Trains Wales liveried plain blue 57313 and ATW-branded 57315 top-and-tailed with six MK2s worked the 1V41 Holyhead to Cardiff Central passenger service. I photographed the train firstly at Pandy and then again at Ponthir after the train called at Abergavenny, Pontypool and Cwmbran for passengers. 10th March 2012.
Heritage '20s' return to Underground Stock moves....
