D5353 27007 leaves the mid hants railway after 33 years

D5353 27007 being transported on a low loader by 'Moveright' is captured heading up a very damp A34 to Andrew Goodmans yard at Sutton Coldfield after it was earlier picked up from Alresford on the 21st January 2018. The teacup has been at the Mid-Hants Railway since 1985 but was withdrawn in 2000 for a major overhaul. It is believed the Type 2 is eventually going to the Caledonian Railway at Brechin for further restoration, after plans to rebuild the locomotive as a Class '21' were scuppered.
D5353 (27007) disguised as 27015 'University of Wibblefroth' (< LOL) is seen leaving Station Road, Alresford on a Moveright low loader before it continues its journey along the B4047, A31 and A34 to the West Midlands on the 21st January 2018.
D5353 is being readied at Alresford for transportation by Moveright to Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands on the 21st January 2018. The locomotive first entered service on the Mid-Hants Railway in 1992 after a fire in 1986 delayed its return to service.
Late eurostar drag...
On the 19th/20th January 2018, GBRf 66769 hauled Eurostar Nos. 373009 and 373010 from St Pancras to Kingsbury EMR as 6X73 (the Eurostar ran empty from Temple Mills to the London terminus). Train 6X73 came to a stand south of Biggleswade station and was unable to proceed forward because of a possession which lasted from 23:30 to 06:00 between Biggleswade and Sandy which prevented the train from running on the relief line. GBRf arranged a fresh driver to relieve the current one and despite being 6 minutes early south of Biggleswade at 01:30, the train went through Sandy at 06:03 a mere 247 minutes late. The Coalville line which opens between 0600 and 0700 just to facilitate this train would remain open until after 10 am with the signallers at Moira and Mantle Lane agreeing to stay on just for the train. Once on the main line at Branston, The Eurostar drag went into Elford loop (a rare manoeuvre for this working) as it would have to wait for a path into Kingsbury EMR as 60044 was working the 6E54 Kingsbury to Humber and 60020 which would overtake the train at Elford, was powering the 6M57 Lindsey to Kingsbury. The Eurostar arrived at Kingsbury EMR around 420 minutes late.
