Ex-Fastline Grid works Empty Box Scrap wagons to Wales
Ex-Fastline liveried 56302 on hire from Ed Stevenson to DCR (although all of the paperwork is believed to have been carried out through Nemesis Rail) hauls a rake of eighteen empty box scrap wagons at Bishton level crossing whilst working the 6Z56 Wembley to Cardiff Canton sidings. It is believed that the wagons maybe going for maintenance at Canton depot, pending a trial run to Shipley which should be operated by a DCR Class '56'. It is the first Class '56' to visit South Wales this year.
Chiltern operate '67' Hauled Football Special
Ex-Wrexham and Shropshire liveried 67013 leads AL01 with DVT 82301 on the rear, powering the 1I28 10:03 Birmingham Moor Street to Wembley football special via the WCML at Chelmscote on the 26th February 2012. The train was diverted due to the Chiltern line being closed between Banbury and Bicester. The football specials were for supporters travelling to the Carling Cup final at Wembley between Cardiff City and Liverpool FC.
Northern Belle starts from Chester due to derailment
Northern Belle liveried 47790 leads the Northern Belle with 47832 on the rear working as the 1Z26 Chester to Wembley at Chelmscote on the 26th February 2012. The Footex was originally planned to start from Liverpool Lime Street but started from Chester due to a HOBC derailment at Winsford which caused much chaos on the WCML for travelling supporters.

DRS 47818 leads a rake of Virgin MK2s with 47841 tucked on the rear powering the 1Z24 Liverpool South Parkway to Wembley football special at Chelmscote on the 26th February 2012.

DB Schenker's Cancer Trust liveried 60074 powers the 6V40 04:25 Scunthorpe to Cardiff Tidal empty steel at Portskewett on the 25h February 2012.
DB Schenker's EWS 60071 heads the 6E41 Westerleigh to Lindsey tanks at Wickwar on the 25th February 2012.
DB Schenker's EWS 66067 powers the 6B33 Theale to Margam empty murco bogie tanks (originally allocated to 60045 but failed whilst working the 6A11) pass 66109 at Newport A.D.j on the 25th February 2012.
Colas 66847 works diverted Dollands Moor Steel
Colas Rail liveried 66847 powers the 6O78 Margam to Dollands Moor loaded steel at Gatcombe on the 19th February 2012. The train was diverted via Chepstow, Gloucester, Bath and Newbury due to engineering works.
Steam over the Settle & Carlisle line...
On the 18th February 2012, 44932 leads 45305 working the 1Z87 Carlisle to London Euston (as far as Farington junction) at Kirkby Stephen. 86259 would work forward from Farington junction to London Euston.

Bardon Aggregates liveried 66623 leads Freightliner 66529 on the 6E31 Killoch to Leeds Hunslet at Ais Gill on the 18th February 2012.
Double-headed Steam in Cumbria...
On the 18th February 2012, LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 nos 44932 leads 45305 powering the 1Z86 London Euston to Carlisle (from Carnforth) at Docker. 86259 would work the train from London Euston to Carnforth and return from Preston, whilst the steam locomotives would work between Carnforth and Preston via the WCML, Carlisle and the S&C.

DRS '20s' visit South Wales
With the DRS Tesco contract between Daventry and Wentloog starting next week. For the past few weeks, DRS have used various locomotives for route learning to South Wales. These have included classes 37s, 47s, 57s and 66s. By far the rarest for South Wales occurred on the 17th February 2012, when 20309 and 20308 worked an 0Z30 Crewe Gresty Bridge to Cardiff Central and 0Z31 Cardiff Central to Crewe Gresty Bridge route learner via the marches. The Choppers terminated at Wentloog instead of running light into Cardiff. Left: 20309 leads 20308 working as the 0Z30 Crewe to Wentloog at Maindee West junction, Newport. The 0Z31 return is photographed at Ponthir with 20308 leading.

Br Blue 86259 works the 1Z86 London Euston to Preston
Looking resplendent in Br Blue, 86259 'Les Ross' hauls the 1Z86 London Euston to Preston Cumbrian Mountain Express at Grendon on the 11 February 2012. Steam loco 70013 would take the tour forward from Preston and work to Carlisle via the S&C. The tour would then work south from Carlisle and 86259 would replace Oliver Cromwell at Carnforth. Derailment Damaged 90046 returns to Crewe via Studley
On the 11th February 2012,Freightliner's 90046 is photographed on an Allelys low loader at Allelys, Studley yard. The Freightliner Skoda derailed at Bletchley south junction, Milton Keynes on the 3rd February whilst running light engine to Wembley on hire to Virgin Trains. The loco was subsequently moved to Wembley and finally left on the evening on the 10th February. The lorry stabled at Studley yard over the weekend, before departing for Crewe Basford Hall in the late hours on the 12th February.

On the 11th February 2012, DRS 37510 leads a snow train consisting of
99709594014-1 and ADB977869 with old DRS liveried 37087 on the rear at Stenson
junction powering the 6Z30 Derby RTC to Carlisle Kingmoor. The Growlers and the

DB Schenker's TATA liveried 60099 powers the 6E41 Westerleigh to Lindsey tanks at Barrow upon Trent on the 11th February 2012.
The Start of the Cumbrian Mountain Express...
After taking over from Br Blue 86259 'Les Ross' at Preston, LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 no 45305 hauls the 1Z87 11:06 Preston to Carlisle via Hellifield and the Settle of Carlisle line. The tour had originated from London Euston as 1Z86. The Black Five makes an enthralling sight at Ribblehead station in wintry conditions on the 4th February 2012.

Network Rail Test Train visits Newport A.D.j
On the 1st February 2012, Network Rail's 31285 leads the Network Rail Structure gauging train consisting of 99666, 975280, 975081, 460000 and DBSO 9708 on the approach to Newport A.D.j in the evening sunshine. The train was running as the 1Q06 14:58 Landore TMD to Landore TMD via Newport A.D.j, Swansea, Coryton, Penarth and Cardiff Bay. The early running of the train made an afternoon shot possible.

'runaway' incidient is photographed leaning against the Railway bridge over the
